Position: PLW Auxiliary Nurse (1 position)Job Grade: Band 2Department: Health/NutritionLocation: Beled HawaReports To: Head NurseDirect Reports: Nutrition NurseBackgroundThe Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is an independent, non-political humanitarian organization that was founded in April 1963 and was established with presidential decree No. 187 in 1965. It was then recognized by the ICRC in 1969 and in the same year became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent societies.Overall Job PurposePLW Auxiliary Nurse will implement quality health and nutrition activities at the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) sites. The TSFP/PLW Auxiliary Nusre will work with SRCS clinics to ensure the adequate and quality management of malnutrition is provided to pregnant and lactating women, with respect to the IMAM guidelines.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Programme Implementation•Ensure that nutritional protocol is strictly followed in terms of admission and discharge criteria.•Improve case management for moderate acute malnutrition of PLWs in TSFP program and ensure that all malnourished PLWs are treated according to IMAM protocol.•Ensure proper, clear and accurate data recording on clinical registration book and nutrition cards.•Conduct health screenings and appraisal of PLWs to detect conditions of Moderate acute malnutrition•Provide health and nutrition education to PLWs on hand hygiene, and exclusive breastfeeding, and Advise mothers on the appropriate time to introduce complementary feeding, and promote the continuation of Breastfeeding up to 2 years old.•Conduct home visits and follow-up discharged patients and provide continuity of care•Complete and submit to the TSFP in charge nurse the relevant weekly and monthly reports for the PLWs activities.Operations Management•Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the OPD health programme line with strategic priorities•Identify capacity-building needs of the auxiliary and volunteer nursing team and ensure they are properly trained and well supported to implement programme activities•Participate in emergency preparedness, rapid assessments and emergency responsesPartnerships/Relationships•Develop and enhance relationships with strategic partners, donors, local authorities and community leaders to maximize support for maternal and child health•Represent SRCS in relevant conferences, seminars, workshops and meetingsPerform other related duties as assigned by the SRSC Senior Management
