Purpose of the PositionThe Obs & GYN Doctor will provide high-quality obstetric and gynecological care, perform advanced laparoscopic and open surgical procedures, support fertility treatment programs, and participate in reproductive health campaigns across all regions of Somalia as required.3. Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesA. Clinical Responsibilities1. Obstetric Care• Antenatal care (ANC) services and risk assessment• High-risk pregnancy management• Intrapartum care and supervision of labor• Cesarean section (elective and emergency)• Instrumental vaginal delivery (vacuum/forceps)• Management of obstetric emergencies (eclampsia, PPH, shoulder dystocia, uterinerupture)• Postnatal care and follow-up2. Gynecological Care• Outpatient gynecology consultations• Diagnosis and management of menstrual disorders• Management of PCOS and endocrine-related infertility• Management of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)• Screening and management of cervical and breast conditions• Colposcopy and cervical biopsy• Pap smear screeningB. Fertility & Reproductive Medicine• Infertility assessment• Ovulation induction protocols• Monitoring of follicular development• Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)• Hormonal evaluation and interpretation• Ultrasound follicular tracking• Counseling couples on assisted reproductive techniquesC. Surgical ResponsibilitiesThe candidate must be capable of performing both open and minimally invasivelaparoscopic procedures including but not limited to:1. Laparoscopic Surgeries• Diagnostic laparoscopy• Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy• Laparoscopic myomectomy• Laparoscopic hysterectomy (total and subtotal)• Laparoscopic salpingectomy• Laparoscopic tubal ligation• Laparoscopic management of ectopic pregnancy• Laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis• Laparoscopic adhesiolysis• Laparoscopic ovarian drilling (PCOS)• Laparoscopic fertility-enhancing procedures2. Open Surgical Procedures• Abdominal hysterectomy• Myomectomy• Salpingo-oophorectomy• Emergency laparotomy• Repair of uterine rupture• Ovarian tumor removalD. Ultrasound & Diagnostic Services• Obstetric ultrasound (dating, anomaly scan, growth scan)• Transvaginal ultrasound• Follicular monitoring• Pelvic ultrasound interpretationE. Outreach & Campaign Responsibilities• Participate in reproductive health campaigns across all regions of Somalia• Travel as required for medical camps and fertility awareness programs• Provide training sessions for local healthcare staff• Conduct community awareness seminars• Represent Public health initiativesF. Administrative & Reporting• Maintain accurate patient records• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols• Participate in clinical audits• Prepare monthly clinical activity reports• Contribute to protocol development
